The mission of
Friends of Colegio Moriah is to facilitate quality education which may build a bridge of reconciliation, love, and forgiveness between the Haitian immigrants and their descendants and the Dominicans and their descendants in San Pedro de Macorís and nearby neighborhoods. By ensuring that all of Colegio Moriah ministries are conceived, directed and implemented by Haitians and Dominicans, who know and love their people, with assistance of people from abroad who understand their plight, we will enhance the dignity of the human spirit. |
History of the Project
Colegio Moriah Ministries was founded in 1998 by Pastor Tanis and his wife Esther. It is an on going ministry that impacts the local community and the World for Christ. What started as a school in an alleyway, under chicken wire and tarps has grown to a school bursting at the seams with over 400 students. Beyond education the ministry impacts the lives of many bringing real hope in Christ; both near and far! This project is a 501c3, and is funded entirely by donation. Please help keep our work going! Pastor Tanis and Esther
Tanis and Esther serve the Lord together along with their family. They live in a home on the main campus in San Pedro de Macorís. They serve their church family, the school community and the larger community tirelessly with a real sense of care. The Word says, “Where there is no vision the people perish” (Pr. 29:18). When asked if he had a vision Tanis replied. "Do I have a vision? YES – I always have had a vision, but it was not well defined and clear until December 4, 2001" Tanis' roots in the Lord’s service began when he was thirteen years old when he was saved at my church in Fond Verretes, Haiti. His pastor inspired him and confirmed the Call of God in his life. He wanted to be more involved in the business of His Kingdom. Click here to read, in his own words,Tanis' Testimony |
Brief History of Haitians & Dominicans
Haiti and the Dominican Republic occupied the same island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean. There have been tensions for many years between the two nations. To this day there are still divisions that have a lasting impact and in some ways have established the need for a school like Colegio Moriah.
